75th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941 the United States was attacked by combined air and naval forces of the Empire of Japan at the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This attack thrust the United States into the Second World War. Three young men from Charles City died aboard the Battleship, USS Arizona when a bomb penetrated the main deck and exploded in the magazine of the ship. In attendance were several World War II veterans as well as a special guest. Mr. Francis Riley, a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack. Mr. Riley was serving aboard the repair ship, USS Vestal which was moored alongside the Arizona.
